About this Performance
In this special Power to the People! concert, Dudamel conducts the most recognized symphony—proudly based on the blues—by one of the leading lights of the Harlem Renaissance, William Grant Still. The program also boasts a world premiere from the multi-talented Puerto Rico-born composer Angélica Negrón as well as Peter Lieberson’s Neruda Songs, which draws its text from poet and activist Pablo Neruda, performed by J’Nai Bridges known for her “rich, dark, exciting sound” (Opera News).
