Lang Lang & Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 2
Sun / May 19, 2019 - 2:00PM
A breakthrough concerto is performed in heroic fashion by a superstar virtuoso.
About this Performance
Dudamel leads Haydn’s magnificent final symphony. Superstar Lang Lang joins in for Beethoven’s first-written, but second-published, piano concerto, a delightful, bracing statement to Vienna that the composer/pianist had arrived.
Program Update: In order to ensure maximum recovery time from tendinitis of the left arm, pianist Lang Lang very much regrets that he can only proceed with two performances of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2, instead of the previously announced five concertos for the upcoming Lang Lang and Beethoven series. The following pianists will join Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic to perform the other concertos: Beatrice Rana, Conrad Tao (Beethoven: Piano Concertos 1 & 3), Yulianna Avdeeva, and Javier Perianes (Beethoven: Piano Concertos 4 & 5).
