Donated Instruments as Tax Deduction

Occasionally, our donors choose to receive a tax deduction for their instrument donation. Should you require a receipt for tax purposes, you are responsible for providing documentation of the instrument’s appraisal. Instrument donations may be 100% tax deductible at the value estimated by a qualified appraiser. If you do not have an appraiser, contact USPAP Appraisers at: appraisersassociation.org

DONOR STORY

Cello Donation: Igniting a Lifelong Passion for Music

Zenia M. Stept with her donated cello
Zenia M. Stept

"Giving to YOLA has allowed me to return the good I have derived from my 20 years of enjoying the Los Angeles Philharmonic. During those years of enjoying exceptional music, I have designed my philanthropic legacy to contribute back to the wonderful experience I have had by helping our youth become future musicians with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. I am so fortunate to have contributed to support the amazingly talented young people of YOLA. My adult grandson, who was in junior high when I purchased the cello for him, feels great pride that his former instrument is going to great use, which is the ultimate satisfaction one gets from giving to a child in need.

I am profoundly grateful to Judith Beckmen, whose guidance was pivotal in helping me fulfill my commitment. Thanks to her, my grandson’s cello has found a new life and purpose with a young, aspiring musician. This is the magic of YOLA – it transforms a child’s dreams into reality, igniting a lifelong passion for music."
