About this Performance
New ideas about gender, sexuality, and politics found a home in the cabarets of Weimar Berlin. Depicted frequently in art, film, and television, Berlin's cabarets have come to represent the freedom to love who you want to love and say what you want to say. Musik! Fantasie! Revolution! brings together Los Angeles’ most vital cabaret, drag, and performance artists in an evening celebrating the subversive spirit of the cabaret. Curated by Jack and Benny Lipson of jackbenny, the evening weaves together the forbidden songs of the era with the contemporary songs that echo their concerns today.
