About this Artist
Yoni Fogelman’s upbringing as a choral singer engendered an appreciation for melodies that could not be fully satiated until he crafted his own. At 18 years old, he has written for soloists, chamber groups, jazz bands, choirs, and orchestras around Los Angeles, embracing classical, jazz, and pop styles zealously. He studies composition with award-winning composer Juan-Pablo Contreras and big-band arranging with acclaimed band director and Hollywood orchestrator Ladd McIntosh. With awards from the National PTA’s “Reflections” competition and honorable mentions from Next Notes and the National Young Composers Competition under his belt, Yoni continues to compose daily and holds music education close to his heart. His experiences in the LA Phil Composer Fellowship Program and the Pasadena Master Chorale’s Young Composer Fellowship have shaped his love for composition, and he is currently working with Musicians at Play to develop his own Composers Fellowship for young adults in Southern California. For Yoni, music is not a solo endeavor, but a medium through which he can nurture relationships with fellow writers, teachers, and performers for the rest of his life.
