About this Artist
Sydney Wang (b. 2002) is a senior at La Cañada High School who is studying composition with Professor Ian Krouse of UCLA. She has been a fellow in the LA Phil Composer Fellowship Program since 2017. She has been commissioned by the Pasadena Symphony and the Modesto Symphony, and her works have won top prizes in national and international competitions for young composers. She has written an orchestral work for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and her works have been performed by the Lyris Quartet and USC Thornton Edge, among others. Sydney has been playing piano since the age of four and is currently studying with Dr. Sarkis Baltaian. In addition, she is the principal cellist in the La Cañada High School Advanced Orchestra. Aside from her passion for music, Sydney loves art, playing sports, reading, writing, and traveling.
