About this Artist

Soprano SARA HERSHKOWITZ is a native of Los Angeles and is the recipient of two nominations in Opernwelt for Singer of the Year, for her portrayal of Zaide in the German Premiere of Mozart/Czernowin’s Zaide Adama, and also for Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. As a principal artist at the Bremen Opera, she sang such roles as Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Arminda in La Finta Giardiniera, and the title role in Mozart’s Zaide. Engagements in 2017/18 included Ligeti’s Le Grand Macabre with the Noord Netherlands Orchestra, her debut with New Orleans Opera as Euridice in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, and a return to the Wuppertal Opernhaus to perform the four heroines (Olympia, Antonia, Giulietta, Stella) in Offenbach’s Les Contes D’Hoffmann. Current and future engagements include her debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Vivaldi’s Gloria for her debut with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and her debut with Oper Basel as Claire Claremont in the world premiere of Kreatur. In 2016/17 Sara performed  Zerbinetta in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos for the Nordnorsk Opera og Symfonieorkester in Norway, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester in Frankfurt and Berlin, and an evening of Spanish song at the Muzikzentrum De Bijloke in Gent, Belgium.
