About this Artist
Sage Shurman (b. 2005) is a composer and pianist based in Pasadena. Her music has been described as unpredictable yet driving, full of contrast, rhythmic interplay, and direction. Sage is a 2022 winner of the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Awards, a fellow in the LA Phil Composer Fellowship program since 2020, and most recently the first recipient of a fellowship that Hub New Music launched with Luna Lab. Sage has been commissioned by groups including the Taos Chamber Music Festival, the Cincinnati May Festival, and Hub New Music. Her work has been performed by ensembles including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, members of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Sandbox Percussion, and Triple Helix. Over the summers, she has participated in programs such as Tanglewood (BUTI), Sunset Chamberfest, and MATA Jr. Outside of music, Sage is a senior at Flintridge Preparatory School and loves to play soccer!
