About this Artist
LAUREN RAUSCH enjoys a dynamic career as a chamber musician and dedicated teacher. She is currently a member of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and an active recitalist, performing regularly throughout the mid-Atlantic region. Rausch enjoys the process of commissioning and performing new compositions: she has worked with many leading figures to bring their works to life, including John Luther Adams, Caroline Shaw, Christopher Cerrone, and Missy Mazzoli. Her advocacy of new music extends to her teaching – Lauren encourages students of all levels to perform new music and has presented on this topic at a recent national conference of the American String Teachers Association. Rausch is on the faculty at the Peabody Preparatory where she also serves as Director of the Young Peoples’ String Program. In her role as Coordinator of the Tuned-In Strings program, she partners with the Baltimore Symphony’s OrchKids program to bring promising young students from the city to study at Peabody. Rausch is currently the Director of Allegro Strings, a summer program for string students with campuses in Towson and Howard County, Maryland. She also maintains a successful private studio and regularly leads workshops for young string students throughout the region. In addition to her work with pre-college musicians, she serves as a Music Education instructor at the Peabody Conservatory. Rausch holds degrees from the Peabody Conservatory, the University of Oregon, and Arizona State University, and has performed at major festivals throughout North America.
