James F. Ingalls (Lighting Designer) returns to the Los Angeles Philharmonic where he has designed the lighting for Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri, John Adams’ The Gospel According to the Other Mary and El Niño; Haydn’s Creation; Antonio Estévez’ Cantata Criolla; The Tristan Project; Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex / Symphony of Psalms; Kaija Saariaho’s La Passion de Simone, and György Kurtág’s Kafka Fragments.
His other work in Los Angeles includes The Beauty Queen of Leenane (Mark Taper Forum); Nixon in China and Pelléas et Mélisande (LA Opera); La Tribu, choreographed by Melanie Ríos Glaser for REDCAT; and Lagrime di San Pietro for the Los Angeles Master Chorale. His work with Peter Sellars spans 39 years.
Recent projects include Girls of the Golden West [Dutch National Opera and San Francisco Opera], La Clemenza di Tito (Dutch National Opera and Salzburg Festival); and Onegin [Ballet West/Salt Lake City]
He often collaborates with The Wooden Floor dancers in Santa Ana, California.
