A firm favorite with audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, HEIDI STOBER’s professional training took place at the Houston Grand Opera, and she holds degrees from Lawrence University and the New England Conservatory.
Since her critically acclaimed debut at Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2008, Heidi has cultivated a long-standing relationship with the company, appearing in a variety of leading roles including Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Micaëla (Carmen), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), and Marguerite (Faust). Heidi has an important relationship with San Francisco Opera where she has sung many roles including Norina (Don Pasquale), Magnolia (Showboat), Nannetta (Falstaff), and Joanna (Sweeney Todd). Heidi made her Metropolitan Opera debut in the 2011/2012 season as Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), returning to the company in recent years again as Gretel and as Pamina and Oscar (Un ballo in Maschera). Other notable appearances include Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), and Atalanta (Xerxes) with Houston Grand Opera; Adina (L’Elisir d'amore) at the Wiener Staatsoper; title role in Semele with Garsington Opera; the title role in Alcina at the Semperoper Dresden; Valencienne (The Merry Widow) at Lyric Opera of Chicago; and La Folie (Platée), Tigrane (Radamisto), and Sandrina (La finta giardiniera) at The Santa Fe Opera.
Highlights of the 2018/19 season include Heidi’s return to San Francisco Opera as Zdenka (Arabella) and Angelica (Orlando), Dalinda (Ariodante) for Lyric Opera Chicago, her house debut for Dutch National Opera as Antigone (Oedipe), and performances at Deutsche Oper Berlin as Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) and Micaëla (Carmen). On the concert platform, Heidi sings Stravinsky’s Cantata with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Esa-Pekka Salonen. Further ahead, Heidi returns to sing at the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, and Garsington Opera.
