The Los Angeles Philharmonic marked the 20th anniversary of Walt Disney Concert Hall at its annual gala concert by paying homage to Frank Gehry, a longtime friend of the LA Phil and the maverick architect behind the iconic Downtown Los Angeles venue.
Conducting works by J.S. Bach, Debussy, and Esa-Pekka Salonen, Gustavo Dudamel led the orchestra in an incredible evening of unprecedented artistry. The gala, which took place on October 5, 2023, featured performances by LA Phil Creative Chair for Jazz Herbie Hancock, R&B artist H.E.R., dancer and choreographer Lucinda Childs, and violinist Geneva Lewis.
Now, that unforgettable celebration is available to stream as part of Great Performances, the award-winning signature series by PBS, at pbs.org/gperf and on the PBS App.
Great Performances: The LA Phil Celebrates Frank Gehry, directed by Michael Beyer and produced by Bernhard Fleisher, is a collaboration between the LA Phil, BFMI, and the WNET Group.
