About this Artist
Ed Barguiarena is a composer, musician, producer, and educator. He created music for film, documentaries, contemporary dance, theater, songs, public art installations, and more.
Ed is a Sundance Institute Composer Fellow and has received grants and awards from: the National Endowment for the Arts, Ford Foundation, The ASCAP Foundation, and The American Music Center.
He has designed and presented concerts, lectures, and workshops for many world-classperforming arts institutions including: The Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Kennedy Center, The Music Center of Los Angeles County, The San Francisco Symphony, USC School of Cinematic Arts, and The Sundance Institute.
In collaboration with drummer and Music Director, Terri Lyne Carrington, Ed was the arranger and orchestrator for Billie & Me, a concert tour in London and the United States featuring reimagined Billie Holiday songs performed by: Dianne Reeves, Amy Winehouse, Angelique Kidjo, Chrissie Hynde, Lalah Hathaway, and Joan Osborne.
Recently, Ed composed and conducted TRANCE for brass ensemble and spoken word, in partnership with poet, Peter J. Harris, which premiered at Grand Performances in 2018.
He is also the drummer for Great Willow (2018 LA Music Critic Award Winner - Best Americana Band)
His documentary film scores include: In Our Son’s Name (PBS, 2016), Raising Ryland (CNN Films, 2015), Cesar’s Last Fast (Sundance Film Festival, 2014).
