In ten quick years, Carla Morrison has gone from playing in the Phoenix indie-rock scene to one of the most popular artists in Mexico. Following a stint in the U.S., the three-time Latin Grammy® Award winner returned to her native country in 2010 to pursue a solo career. Her acoustic laments and powerful voice quickly won her a devoted audience, but with the expanded vision she brought to 2015’s Amor Supremo, she burst into global consciousness. Pitchfork hailed the emotional depth of her singing, saying she “cuts across the language barrier, makes you understand something beyond the word,” while The New Yorker called her “the genuine article – a doomed, spectral torch singer, incandescent with longing, desire, and grief.” She’s gone on to collaborate with Colombian reggaeton singer J. Balvin. The proudly independent artist is joined by the Los Angeles Philharmonic for a night of emotionally bracing and expertly sung music.
