About this Artist

Avis Reese is a keyboardist/pianist whose musical style has been described as “emotive.” This Rochester, NY, native is self-taught and learned how to play by ear: a skill that was developed playing in the church. Although gospel music is her musical foundation, as a teenager Avis was introduced to a variety of musical genres that would help her develop a sonic style with a unique character. Whether she is playing a beautiful ballad or an up-tempo funk groove, listeners are bound to feel connected to her sound. She currently is the keyboardist and music director for Danielle Ponder, and with her, she has helped co-write and co-produce a number of songs on Ponder’s debut album, Some of Us Are Brave.
