About this Artist
Andrés Mendoza is an enthusiastic and energetic oboist and music educator. Born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, he obtained his initial musical instruction through El Sistema, studying oboe at the Vicente Emilio Sojo Conservatory of Music in Barquisimeto and the Simón Bolívar Conservatory of Music in Caracas. After more than a decade of experience in the network of orchestras in Venezuela, including serving as principal oboist of the national orchestra, he came to the United States and earned a Bachelor of Music from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Since 2012 he has fulfilled his calling as a music educator and director, serving as a guest clinician for music festivals around the country, performing, teaching, conducting, and traveling extensively throughout the US and Canada. Mr. Mendoza holds a Master of Music from Central Michigan University and is currently a music faculty at Weimar University in Weimar, California.
