Gustavo Dudamel, the dynamic conductor and Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela is confirmed to participate in his first-ever, exclusive radio broadcast with SiriusXM, “Off the Podium with Gustavo Dudamel.” Moderated by the award-winning actor David Hyde Pierce, the program will be recorded on March 26, 2013 at the SiriusXM studios in New York City, and broadcast on their Symphony Hall channel (channel 76) on March 29, 2013 at 6:00 PM EDT, with repeat broadcasts on March 30, March 31 and April 1.
The two cultural figures will discuss Dudamel’s career, with a spotlight on his prolific recordings on Deutsche Grammophon, particularly those with the LA Phil, including Mahler 9, which is the first Dudamel/LA Phil recording available as both a physical and digital product. Recorded live at Walt Disney Concert Hall during 2012’s “Mahler Project,” Mahler 9 was released in February 2013. On March 26, 2013, previously unreleased performances of Debussy’s La mer and Stravinsky’s The Firebird – recorded in early March at Walt Disney Concert Hall - will be released under the new LA Phil Live banner. Currently on tour, Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic will perform both pieces on March 28, 2013 at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall.
Also coming March 26 are six catalog titles being re-issued under the LA Phil Live banner as “Mastered for iTunes.” All six were recorded live at Walt Disney Concert Hall and feature Dudamel and the LA Phil. The re-issued recordings include:
